Donna Lynn Burns
Donna Lynn Burns, President and Founder, produced a stage reading her musical STORM WARNING, directed by George Faison at the Anspacher Theater at the Public as part of the Playwrighting Workshop with Thulani Davis with fellow collaborators Saundra McClain and Timothy Graphenreed.  


Ms. Burns developed a grant proposal for the National Endowment of the Arts (NEA), which was noted as containing 'one of the most comprehensive and realistic budgets'.  Ms. Burns secured funds for the NEA demo featuring several amazing singers (Deborah Burell, Tamara Tunie, Priscilla  Baskerville and Damien Leach) by holding fundraisers at Danny's Skylight on Theatre Row featuring Terri Burell and Tamara Tunie.   STORM WARNING was awarded an Individual Grant (Opera/Musical), last of it's kind, to complete the score and book just in time for the stage reading at the Anspacher Theater at the Public 

Other Projects include:

  • Raised capital to produce a promotional demo of a new children's property - WordWorld which was picked up by PBS and subsequently became a three-time Emmy Award-winning children's television series partially funded by the United States Department of Education as part of the Ready To Learn literacy initiative targeted to 3- to 7-year old
  • Co-Produced Stage Reading of "Wake Up Alan", by Timothy Graphenreed
  • Produced, Co-Wrote, Performed "A Dream in Progress", with Timothy Graphenreed at Hollins Theater, VA
  • Produced, Co-Wrote, Performed in "A Night of Cabaret" at the China Club, with Timothy Graphenreed which featured talent from a Wall Street Firm.  Ms. Burns secured seed money from Mr. Sandy Warner, chairman and chief executive officer of JP Morgan Securities Inc.  The team building-charity event raised $9,000. Renowned actress Rudy Dee accepted the donation on behalf of AMAS Musical Theatre and was accompanied by Donna Trinkoff, AMAS Producing Artistic Director.  
Ruby Dee, Donna Lynn BurnsAs a writer/composer, Ms. Burns presented her first work "Timeless Crossing" at the ASCAP Musical Theater Workshop with Charles Strouse, which she penned while on a national tour of "The Secret Garden" for Theatreworks USA.  The excerpts from the musical was critique by Stephen Sondheim (Sweeney Todd, Company, A Little Night Music).  In a correspondence from Mr. Harold Prince (Phantom of the Opera), he felt Ms. Burns was holding back on the music and encouraged her to 'be as audacious as you dare'.   As year later, Ms. Burns wrote the music for STORM WARNING, which began as a 10 minute musical as part of the BMI Musical Theater workshop with Skip Kennon.  Shortly after, the work was developed into a full length musical and presented at the ASCAP Musical Theater Workshop with Stephen Schwartz, where it was critiqued by Rupert Holmes (The Mystery of Edwin Drood).
